Trading-agent map — brokerage, crypto, prediction lanes

A curated GitHub list or marketplace shelf is a map, not a “best bots” ranking. Label which path touches brokerage, crypto, prediction markets, or stays research-only — then match the shield. Never skip a dedicated agent wallet, spend caps, and review before place.

Answer first

Map the lane before you fund anything. Brokerage MCP write access → shield brokerage. Crypto wallet or x402 payer → shield crypto and x402 buyer basics. Prediction bots that can place or pay → same spend stack. Research-only quotes or news → no live keys. Prefer a specialist bot per lane over one mega-bot. Agent Lane publishes the map. We do not rank bots, hold wallets, or place trades.

What this page is

A short operator guide for reading trading-agent catalogs safely — the lane half of a desk that also uses dedicated agent wallet, agent spend caps, review before place, the shared-box checklist, and install a specialist bot when you pick a marketplace recipe.

One useful public starting point is awesome-trading-agents on GitHub — a curated catalog of LLM-driven trading projects. A shorter shelf of commonly named open projects sits on Resources under Open trading-agent stack (map only). Same rule: map, not mandate.

Lane chart

  • Brokerage MCP. Agent can call a brokerage tool. Read-only quotes are different from write access that can place. Live write → shield brokerage spend.
  • Crypto wallet / x402. Agent can sign, pay, or drain a spend pocket. Live path → shield crypto spend and x402 buyer basics.
  • Prediction markets. Bots that only research contracts stay research-only. Bots that can place or pay are a spend path — use the same wallet → caps → review stack.
  • Research-only. Quotes, news, filings, paper accounts. No funded keys, no skip-confirmation README rules.

Stars, forks, and “awesome” titles measure attention. They do not measure safety, legality in your state, or whether a project deserves your API keys.

Agents, MCPs, and skills (plain words)

  • Agents — programs that can research markets, sketch a plan, or (if you connect them) try to place orders. Software helpers, not a desk that trades for you.
  • MCPs — plug-ins that let the agent call market or brokerage tools. Some only read; others reach a brokerage or wallet. Treat write access as spending power.
  • Skills — smaller instruction packs (prompts, checklists, tool recipes) for one job. A skill is not a broker account and not a guarantee of edge.

How to map a trading agent to the right shield

  1. Stay map-only first. Browse curated lists and marketplace pages as a map. Do not paste live keys or fund a spend pocket until you know which lane the bot touches.
  2. Label the lane. Mark the path: brokerage MCP, crypto wallet / x402, prediction-market place-or-pay, or research-only. If unsure, treat it as spend.
  3. Match the shield page. Brokerage → shield brokerage. Crypto / x402 → shield crypto and x402 buyer basics. Prediction place-or-pay → same spend stack as any live money path.
  4. Prefer one specialist per lane. Install one clear-job bot for that lane. Do not stack every MCP onto one mega-bot that also holds mail, post, and spend connectors.
  5. Gate spend: wallet → caps → review. Before any live money connector: dedicated agent wallet, then agent spend caps, then review before place. Never skip the human yes.
  6. Check the shared box. Before overnight or funded sessions, map who can sit at the computer, which agent logins live there, and which connectors those logins can call.
  7. Paper or dry-run before live keys. Prove quotes, drafts, and review prompts on paper or read-only first. Only then size a dedicated spend pocket you can lose.

Spend gate (never skip)

  • Dedicated agent wallet. Separate spend path sized to what you can lose — not household savings. See dedicated agent wallet.
  • Agent spend caps. Hard dollar limits you control before a live connector spends — agent spend caps.
  • Review before place. The agent shows the order or payment and waits for you — review before place. Do not install a project whose standing rule is “just place it.”
  • Shared-box checklist. Who can sit here, which logins, which connectors — shared-box and connector checklist.

A map of trading agents does not replace the shield. If the spend pocket, caps, review step, or shared-computer picture is fuzzy, keep the list in the browser tab and the money offline.

Specialist bots, not one mega-bot

One mega-bot that inherits research, brokerage write, crypto pay, and mail is a blast radius, not a desk. Prefer a specialist crew: one clear job per bot, private desk scratch in that bot’s memory, house “never place without my yes” rules in shared user-memory — see agent memory hygiene.

Explicit don’ts

  • Don’t paste API keys into random repos — or into chat, screenshots, or a cloned .env someone else wrote.
  • Don’t skip human approval on live orders or payments. “Act without asking” is how a confused prompt becomes a filled trade.
  • Don’t treat GitHub stars as edge. Popularity is not a strategy, and a trending README is not due diligence.
  • Don’t wire an unknown bot to live money because a list grouped it under “agents.” The list is a map; you still choose the route.
  • Don’t start paid x402 seller or API rails from this page. Buyer basics under caps only — seller rails stay out of scope here.

What Agent Lane does not do here

  • We do not rank trading bots or pick winners from any list.
  • We do not endorse wiring any third-party agent to a funded account.
  • We do not teach memecoin sniping or how to bypass review-before-place.
  • We do not invent products, fees, or rankings for projects on public maps.

FAQ

What is a trading-agent map?
A trading-agent map is a plain-English lane chart: which bot or connector can touch brokerage MCP, a crypto spend wallet, prediction-market rails, or stay research-only. Use curated GitHub lists and marketplace bots as maps of the neighborhood — not as a green light to fund every address.
Which path touches brokerage vs crypto vs prediction?
Brokerage MCP write access → shield brokerage spend. Crypto wallet or x402 payer → shield crypto spend and x402 buyer basics. Prediction-market bots that can place or pay → treat like a spend path with the same wallet, caps, and review stack. Research-only quotes or news MCP → no funded keys.
What is research-only vs a spend path?
Research-only means the agent can read quotes, news, filings, or paper accounts — nothing that can place, pay, or move money. A spend path is any connector that can submit an order, sign a payment, or drain a wallet. If you are unsure, treat it as a spend path until you prove otherwise.
Do I always need dedicated wallet, spend caps, and review before place?
Yes for any live spend path. Gate in order: dedicated agent wallet → agent spend caps → review before place. Do not skip a step because a README looks polished or a list called the project “awesome.”
Should I use one mega-bot or specialist bots?
Prefer specialist bots — one clear job per bot — over one mega-bot that inherits every desk and every spend connector. Install one marketplace specialist per lane, then prove it before adding another. See install a specialist bot and agent memory hygiene.
How do I use a GitHub awesome-list safely?
Read first. Fund later — or never. Prefer read-only and paper runs. Open the repo like a stranger’s toolbox: where keys go, whether human approval is required, whether the README tells the agent to skip confirmation. Stars measure attention, not safety.
Where do I apply this next?
Brokerage: shield-brokerage. Crypto: shield-crypto and x402-buyer-basics. Spend gate stack: dedicated-agent-wallet, agent-spend-caps, review-before-place. Shared computer: shared-box. Specialist install: install-specialist-bot. Agent Lane publishes the map; we do not rank bots or wire your money.
