Guide
Ring-fence brokerage spend
Connect Cursor or Grok to Robinhood’s official Trading MCP, fund only the dedicated Agentic account, and keep review-before-place as standing doctrine. This is a setup guide, not a desk that trades for you.

Not legal, tax, or investment advice. Agent Lane is a publisher. We do not place trades, custody assets, or operate your agents. Confirm every step on the official product page before you fund a run.
What this page is
A DIY walk-through of the public Robinhood Agentic Trading path, plus a standing instruction set Agent Lane calls auto-review doctrine. The doctrine is editorial. It is not a Robinhood product name.
You stay the customer of record. If an agent places an order in an Agentic account you funded, that order is yours. Read Robinhood’s own risk language before you connect anything.
The ring-fence
Robinhood’s public article is explicit: an agent connected to the Trading MCP can read across your Robinhood accounts, and can place trades only in a dedicated Agentic account. Treat that account as the spend cap.
- Keep long-term holdings in accounts the agent cannot trade.
- Fund the Agentic account with what you can lose on a bad week, not with the household book.
- Do not treat “the agent can see my other accounts” as “the agent can only see the Agentic one.” Read access is wider than trade access.
- Re-check the funded balance before a run, not after.
A dedicated account caps what the agent can touch. It does not cap a bad strategy inside that account. Size the balance as if every share can go to zero while you are away from the keyboard.
Official MCP endpoint
Robinhood hosts the Trading MCP athttps://agent.robinhood.com/mcp/tradingover HTTP. Prefer that official URL over any community wrapper that asks for a Robinhood password.
Robinhood’s article lists Cursor and Grok among the platforms that can connect. The steps below are a short restatement of that public page. If the product UI moved, the official article wins.
Cursor
- Give the agent the MCP URL
https://agent.robinhood.com/mcp/trading. - Open Settings → Cursor Settings.
- Select Tools & MCPs → Connect, then authenticate through Robinhood’s own flow.
Grok
- Start a chat and select the + control.
- Select Add connector → Custom.
- Add
https://agent.robinhood.com/mcp/tradingand finish Robinhood’s login.
Open the Agentic account
Robinhood describes the Agentic account as a self-directed individual investing account. Public requirements include a primary individual investing account in good standing, then onboarding that starts after you connect the MCP. Robinhood says you can only open the Agentic account and authenticate the agent on a desktop device. If a mobile client hands you an onboarding URL, open it in a desktop browser.
Connecting the MCP is not the same as funding the account. Do not fund until the connector is the official URL, the account you see is the Agentic one, and your standing instructions (next section) are in the agent’s always-on rules.
Auto-review doctrine
Robinhood’s tool surface includes a preview step (review_equity_order, and a matching options review where that tool exists) and a separate place step. Robinhood also says that if you instruct the agent to act without asking, it can place trades without your confirmation. Auto-review doctrine is the operator rule that refuses that shortcut.
- Review is the default. The agent calls the review tool and surfaces quote, size, session, and pre-trade alerts before it may call any place tool.
- No autonomous standing order. Do not put “just place it,” “don’t ask,” or “act without confirmation” in always-on rules, project instructions, or a pasted run prompt.
- You name the ticket. Symbol, side, size, and order type come from you. The agent does not invent a one-share default or a $100 notional because you forgot to specify size.
- Session matches the order type. Outside regular hours, public MCP rules treat limit orders as the executable form. Market and stop types that are regular-hours-only should not be forced into an extended or overnight session.
- Preview warnings stop the run. Buying-power, pattern-day, halt, or instrument alerts from review are a stop, not flavor text.
- Reads are not free of blast radius. Portfolio and tax-lot tools still pull account detail into the agent context. Treat that context as something a later prompt, log, or shared machine can see.
Put those six lines in the file your agent always loads (Cursor rules, Grok custom instructions, or the equivalent). A chat reminder is not a control. A standing rule the agent cannot silently drop is closer to one.
Crypto inside the same brokerage MCP
Robinhood’s article also describes agent-placed crypto ordersinside the Agentic account, after a corresponding Robinhood Crypto account and updated agreements. That is still brokerage-book crypto, not a wallet you withdraw from. The agent cannot transfer, stake, or lend that crypto; those actions stay in the app. Some states, including New York, are called out as restricted for agentic crypto. If that is the lane you meant, re-read Robinhood. If you meant on-chain agent spend, use the crypto spend guide instead.
What Agent Lane does not do here
- We do not connect to your account or preview your orders.
- We do not publish a strategy, a ticker list, or a “set it running” prompt.
- We do not claim the official MCP is the right brokerage for you.
