# Shield brokerage spend

Protect the brokerage MCP trading path before an agent can place. Dedicated funded Agentic sleeve, spend caps, review before place. No “just place it.” Agent Lane does not place trades or hold your accounts.

## Answer first

Before a live brokerage place: put agent trading money in a dedicated funded Agentic sleeve; set spend caps; keep review before place; keep your personal long-term brokerage login outside the bot’s reach; fund only what one bad week can lose; disconnect before you raise the balance.

## Agentic sleeve vs personal long-term login

- **Personal long-term brokerage** — savings and holdings you would mourn; outside the shield; bot never holds that login.
- **Dedicated Agentic sleeve** — funded account for agent trading only; inside the shield behind caps and review.
- **The gap is the shield** — one bad prompt must not trade the main stash.

## How to shield brokerage spend

1. Separate Agentic sleeve from long-term accounts — personal long-term login stays outside.
2. Connect only the official Trading MCP — prefer the broker’s official URL; no third-party password tools.
3. Open and fund a dedicated Agentic account — fund only what one bad week can lose.
4. Set spend caps — session max and daily max; funded balance is last brake.
5. Require review before place — review tool first; you confirm; then place. No “just place it.”
6. Check the balance before each session — confirm Agentic balance and caps; refill after receipts.
7. Disconnect before you raise funds — disconnect MCP, lock apps, move leftover cash if needed, then raise or debug.

## Official MCP path (Robinhood example)

- Prefer `https://agent.robinhood.com/mcp/trading` over any third-party tool that asks for a Robinhood password.
- Cursor: Settings → Tools & MCPs → Connect, then Robinhood’s own login.
- Grok: Add connector → Custom → same official URL, then Robinhood login.
- Open and sign into the Agentic account on desktop; do not fund until connector URL, account, and standing rules check out.
- Seeing other accounts is wider than trading — do not confuse the two.

## Review before place on brokerage

- Review is the default: show quote, size, session, and pre-trade alerts before any place tool.
- No “just place it,” “don’t ask,” or “act without confirmation” in always-on rules or prompts.
- You name symbol, side, size, and order type — the agent does not invent defaults.
- Outside regular hours, stick to order types that can fill (public MCP: limit for extended/overnight).
- Preview warnings (buying power, pattern-day, halt, instrument) stop the session.
- Reads still pull account detail into context — shared-computer risk applies; see [shared-box.md](./shared-box.md).
- Put these rules in always-on instructions, not a one-off chat reminder.

## Crypto inside the same brokerage MCP

Agent-placed crypto *orders* inside an Agentic account are still brokerage crypto, not an on-chain wallet. For crypto the agent pays with on-chain, use [shield-crypto.md](./shield-crypto.md).

## Agent Lane does not

- Place trades, connect to your account, or preview your orders.
- Publish a strategy, ticker list, or “set it running” prompt.
- Claim any official MCP is the right brokerage for you.

## FAQ

**What is the brokerage spend shield?**
Gap between a dedicated funded Agentic sleeve the agent can place in and your personal long-term brokerage login the bot should never hold. Only agent trading money lives inside, behind caps and review.

**Agentic sleeve vs personal brokerage login?**
Dedicated Agentic account for agent runs (fund only one bad week). Long-term holdings stay in accounts the agent cannot trade. Bot never holds the personal long-term login.

**Why must the bot never hold the personal brokerage login?**
A personal login in the connector, chat, prompt, or shared machine is a path the next prompt or leak can trade. Prefer the official Trading MCP into a dedicated Agentic sleeve.

**How do wallet, caps, and review stack on brokerage?**
Dedicated agent wallet → spend caps → review before place → then place.

**What does review before place mean on the Trading MCP?**
Review tool first; show quote, size, session, alerts; you confirm; then place. No “just place it.”

**Why is “just place it” banned?**
Official MCP paths can place without confirmation if you tell the agent to act without asking. Review before place refuses that shortcut.
